An ancient healing art with more than 2500 years of experience in working with the body as a whole. The masseur works with his or her hands, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet to work deeply with energy points, meridian lines and muscles.
At the same time, the masseur stretches the patient’s body in all possible angles, improving circulation and toning the nervous, respiratory, skeletal-muscular and digestive systems.
This massage is used to improve general health and well being, eliminating stress in the body, mind and spirit. It can also be used specifically to work with pain or tension in any muscle group and over time it can improve flexibility and posture.
Many yoga practitioners use this to assist their personal practice and this session can be like a form of meditation, which is how it was originally practiced Buddhist temples. In Thailand it was considered one of the paths to the four divine states of mindfulness which are Buddhist requirements to end suffering and achieve happiness:
Metta: the ability to make others happy and show love.
Karuna: the feeling of compassion for those who suffer and the desire to relieve them.
Mudita: the feeling of joy for those who are prosperous, which is the opposite of envy.
Uppekha: the ability to embrace all people, free from prejudice or preference.
Massage with this intention is a healing experience for the therapist as well as for the client, with inner life energy flowing among them both.
